The Hummer H3 was a redesign of sorts. The H1 was massive overkill for the typical US household. The H2 was still overkill but not quite as loudly as its predecessor. The H3 was the toned down version. It was still designed to be impressive and capable but was also a little more like a family vehicle that could actually fit into the driveways and parking garages of the world. Just because the Hummer H3 was toned down doesn’t mean that the designers went boring.
As an off road vehicle the Hummer H3 was still a leader that couldn’t be caught. It could still climb, drive through terrain that left others stuck in the mud, and still held a very proud position for doing it all with that specialized look and outfitting. One the roadways, the Hummer H3 was a little slow to get up and go and didn’t offer the cargo space or the passenger space that was expected. Looking at the vehicle from the outside gave a false impression that the interior would have preserved the spaciousness while making it fit into a regular parking space.
With 293 horses the 3.7 inline engine is driven by a 5 speed manual transmission. This engine is not unique to the Hummer H3 but is also the engine that GM uses for its mid size pick up trucks. Because the H3 is about 2.5 tons, this engine isn’t strong enough to give it that powerful kick that consumers were looking for. It takes about 11 seconds for the Hummer H3 to go from a dead stop to 60 miles per hour. The one thing that the engineers should have improved on significantly but didn’t was the fuel economy.

Dodge seems eager to inject a shot of sportiness into any model it can. The redesigned Avenger is a model that could certainly use the help, thus the 2012 Dodge Avenger R/T seen here. While we would love to see an SRT-tuned version of the sedan (or a better sedan entirely), the R/T touches are a good start.
Rather than focusing efforts on the 283-horsepower, 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, the engineers at Dodge have elected to fiddle with the suspension. Roll stiffness, strut damping and spring rates have been increased both front and rear, while the rear stabilizer bar has grown from 19-millimeters out to 21-millimeters.
In order to let you know you’re looking at an Avenger R/T, Dodge has added a signature decal across the front fenders, an R/T badge on the back, a rear spoiler and 18-inch painted-aluminum wheels. The 2012 Buick Regal is expected to take to the highways in the second half of 2011. The automotive press got their first up-close look at the sports sedan on November 4, 2010, on the eve of its official debut at the South Florida International Auto Show. As expected, there was very little change in body style from the 2011 model that won raves for its European-influenced design. The Regal is patterned after the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia and except for the Buick grille, looks very similar.
High-performance Buick models were around in the 1960s when GS stood for Gran Sport, but by the time that Buick retired the Regal name in 2004, its retirement was a fulfillment of the image the old car had acquired: a car for retirement age drivers. Subaru Sets a New Record at Mt. Washington. A couple of weeks after the Subaru STI obliterated the Isle of Man TT record for a production car, they decided to set another one. The Mt. Washington “Climb to The Clouds” Hill Climb located in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire rides along the Mt. Washington Carriage Road which is the country’s oldest man-made attraction. The 7.6 mile hill climb course was first run in 1904 and the last record was set 13 years ago by rally driver Frank Sprongl in 1998. That was until Subaru Rally driver David Higgins piloted his rally-spec Impreza WRX STI to a time of 6 minutes and 11.54 seconds. That time smashed the old record by more than 30 seconds.
despite the weather which provided large amounts of rain and fog, Higgins was still able to prove Subaru’s rally heritage. “It was a very big challenge because the road was still wet in spots and would turn very slick suddenly. With the clouds the visibility was so low I could hardly see past the hood of my car,” explained Higgins. “Our Subaru is setup perfectly for a road like this but I have never raced here before and it was a lot of work to try to learn the course. It’s fantastic to have the record at such a prestigious event.”
On the official run, Subaru was the last to run and Higgins beat the 98 record on his first attempt by 20 seconds. He then went on to beat the record even more so and put Subaru in the history books for the Mt. Washington “Climb to The Clouds” Hill Climb.

Audi has a huge presence at this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. In addition to running a trio of R18s in the race, the Four Rings takes over a large portion of the track with displays, hospitality suites and even a temporary hotel that is built for the event each year.
One of the vehicles on display was the A1 clubsport quattro that debuted last week at Wörthersee, a celebration of all things Volkswagen. The show car is a clue that Audi’s quattro system will soon make its way into the A1 lineup, although the demonstration is more extreme than anything that will make it to production.
Under the hood is a 500-horsepower version of the 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine, allowing the A1 clubsport quattro to go from 0-100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) in just 3.7 seconds. The car also features a beautiful matte white paint job, a widebody aerodynamics kit, carbon fiber roof and rear spoiler, retro 19-inch wheels and more.
